A message from Jerry McAward
President of Northeast PA Kayak School, Inc.
"Since 1979, the Lehigh
River has been where I have spent most of my time. I took
up whitewater kayaking in 1983, and it's been my chosen
sport ever since. I have paddled many rivers since then,
but the Lehigh was where I learned my craft and put in my
time.
It pleases me immensely to share this sport
with new people. I am genuinely excited about kayaking and
celebrate the fact that kayaking is smokin' HOT right now!
We've started teaching touring kayaking as we continue to
grow —lake, bay, and sea kayaking is extremely popular
and many people want to start doing things right from the
beginning.
Kayaking
is a lifetime sport that one can take to any level of adventure
and accomplishment. Our staff instructors for 2008, Tim, Doug,
Shannon, Sonya, Tom, Joel, Paul, Dara, Bill W., Glenn, Amy,
Butch, Victoria, Mike R., Mark, Dave, John B., Sara, Mike
G., Rob, Abbey, Mike B., Krystal, Bill P., and Sebastian are
smart, funny, super-enthusiastic people.
I feel very fortunate to work with these
fine people. You'll notice that we only hire the best personalities.
As a small, specialty kayak school we pride ourselves on how
people are treated. This kayaking thing is contagious, and
each of us hope you catch it!"
